Berry Labs

Search finds words. It should find what you mean.

Most of what matters is sparse. A handful of variants in three billion base pairs. One paper in ten million. The one person, out of thousands, you should meet.

Search today is built for the dense middle: popular queries, common words, lots of clicks. It breaks where the answer is rare and the question is hard to put into keywords.

We started Berry Labs to build intelligent sparse search systems and matchmaking algorithms. Systems that understand intent and find the few things that matter in very large spaces.

People are our first proving ground. The right hire, cofounder or collaborator is almost never found by keyword. Titles and skill lists say little about what someone has actually built, or what they want to do next.

Our first product is people search for hiring. Describe who you need the way you would to a friend, and it finds the few people who fit. It matches on both sides: what you need, and what they want.

Berry Labs goes beyond people. Next we want to take on science, starting with the genome, where the right answer is rarest of all.

We are early.

If you want to help build it, we would like to hear from you.
